mSpy offers reliable and quality monitoring. While Flexispy offers a more comprehensive range of features, mSpy is not lagging too far behind – plus it’s quite affordable. If the recording features are not a must have then this might be great for you. This product has been an industry leader for several years now. You don’t have to take my word for it just take a look.
If you’re one of my avid review readers then you would probably know that my reviews are mainly based on my personal experience after months of testing the product extensively – and researching it thoroughly.
Present market status – 2018
Since 2011 mSpy has garnered significant popularity (mobile spy is no longer incognito) after the fiasco with StealthGenie which forced many programs to adjust the features that they offer. So if you’re considering any mobile spy software then it’s highly possible that you’ve encountered mSpy.
mSpy has earned their place among some of the most reputable names in the industry. They provide a host of quality monitoring solutions for a wide selection of devices, ranging from cell phones to tablets – and more impressively, they now offer monitoring solutions for PCs.
mSpy abandoned some of its most advanced features, including phone call and ambient recording, after the US government went after StealthGenie. They did this because they wanted to avoid any potential legal issues that could have occurred. Currently, the only company that offers any of these recording features is Flexispy.
And since we’re on the subject, you might want to check out my review on Flexispy.
mSpy does not provide identical features to Flexispy but they are certainly catering to the needs of their customers. They’ve surpassed many companies on the market by offering a lot of the most standard monitoring features with a few of their very own unique features.
I’ll highlight all the pros and cons of using mSpy monitoring software in this review so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it’s right for you.
Ensure That The Device Is Supported Before Getting Started
If you’re looking to monitor a Blackberry, Windows, or Symbian phone, then mSpy is not for you. The application is only compatible with Android and iOS devices and you’ll also want to make sure that the device comes with the correct OS version. Once the target device has the correct OS version then you are good to go. I took the liberty of providing you a list of supported OS systems but you should always check their website for updates.
iPhones and iPads– up to iOS 9.x
Android phones – 4.x and upwards
mSpy No Jailbreak Solution
mSpy requires that you jailbreak the target device in order to use the regular version of the software – as with all regular spy software. However, they have released a no jailbreak option in order to accommodate users who do not wish to go through the jailbreaking process.
Now before we move on, you should understand that this option is not a software- hence you do not have to install an application on the device being monitored. To use this option, iCloud backup will need to be enabled on the iPhone or iPad and you’ll need the user’s username and password. There’s no need to come into physical contact with the phone if you’re using this option.
It works by allowing you to review reports sent to the mSpy dashboard of information on the user’s iCloud backup. The reports will include:
Text messages sent from and to the device
While it’s a good option if you don’t want to go through the jailbreaking process it does have its drawbacks. For instance, the reporting is very limited and it doesn’t offer any advanced features. You can set different time intervals to receive a report but real time monitoring is not possible with this option.
So the good thing is that you won’t have to jailbreak the cell phone – the bad this is that you’ll have to forgo some features.
If you’re interested in the non-jailbreak option then you can check it out here.
Now without further ado let’s look at the regular mSpy program.
Quality Monitoring Features
mSpy provides all the standard monitoring features that you can expect from a company today. You can use it to monitor: the device’s location with GPS tracking, phone calls and messages coming to and from the device, online activities, and emails. But let’s get to the good stuff – these features are offered by nearly all companies today. The real question here is – what new features are they bringing to the table?
This feature uses GPS tracking to keep you up-to-date on the whereabouts of the device on a map. In addition to providing timely logs of where the device is throughout the day, it also allows you to set border restrictions and set up email alerts to notify you when the phone is no longer within border limits. Parents will especially enjoy this feature – I can attest to the fact that this feature works perfectly after testing it thoroughly.
Monitor Chat and Social Network Platforms
Mobile message apps and social media have become the main communication mediums for the younger generation, making this one of the most useful features. mSpy provides monitoring for a lot of popular messaging and social platforms so that’s a plus.
Currently it allows you to monitor the following apps: Twitter, Facebook, SnapChat, Line, WhatsApp, iMessage, Skype, Viber, and Blackberry Messenger. mSpy is currently the only software that offers monitoring for SnapChat and with the app becoming a social phenomenon it’s certainly a catch.
This is yet another great tool for parents to use. With this feature, parents get to decide which applications their kids can access. Plus if you want to, you can even prevent them from using the internet completely – you’ll be taking them back to the good old days when all you could do was send SMS text messages with your cell phone.
This was one of the unique features that I was referring to when I stated that mSpy offers much more than standard features. With this feature you can review everything that the user types on the device that’s being monitored. This includes text messages, passwords, and social network login details. Unfortunately for iOS users this feature is only available for Android devices.
Call Blocking Feature
This feature allows you to block incoming calls from specific numbers. It comes in handy if you’re trying to sever ties with a friend without having to change your number.
With this feature you can block access to designated websites. Employers will especially love this feature. It’s a great way to prevent employees from straying onto Facebook or Instagram during work hours. It’s also a great way to restrict children’s social media activities – keep them in check!
This provides you with information on all Wi-Fi networks, private or public, that the device has been connected to. And it doesn’t stop there – it goes even further by allowing you to monitor the device even with GPRS off. It also informs you of the time that the device was connected to each unique Wi-Fi network and allows you to limit access to public networks.
Device Management Features
If you’re like me than you’ll love anything feature that takes away the hassle of monitoring the device. With this feature you get to choose which activities you want to be notified about. You can choose if you want to be notified about location changes of the device or when the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
Unlimited phone Change
This feature gives you the freedom to transfer your subscription to another compatible device. So in the event that the target phone is no longer in use then you don’t have to worry. You can simply install it onto a new device but first you’ll have to ensure that the subscription is deactivated on the old device from the control panel.
This feature covers data wiping, app control, and password locking, to name a few. With the amount of private information that we keep on our cell phones today, the security of our phones is right up there with our homes. With the security features you can erase data or lock the device from a remote location; and this had been a major selling point.
Does It Stay Hidden On The Device Being Monitored?
This is one of the most frequent questions that I come across about this program, especially after MobileSpy made their software 100% visible on devices that it was installed on. mSpy didn’t adopt this feature and still remains completely hidden on any device it’s installed to. The person using the device will remain oblivious to the fact that the software is on the device unless you tell them – but remember don’t go breaking the law, I can’t stress this enough.
Customer Service Rating?
Good customer support is a feature that you should always look for when you decide to invest in a spy software or anything technological for that matter. After testing mSpy, I think it’s safe to tell you that it is sufficient but of course there is always room for improvement. It’s not perfect – but better than a lot I’ve come across.
You can chat live with a support agent from the official website or you can contact them via email or through a phone call. Phone support is always appreciated – especially during emergencies. Be advised though that you might have to try more than once to reach customer support by phone. Like most companies they seem to get a lot of calls.
If you’re left on hold you can always browse the website for any useful information. Their website is clear, features a lot of useful information, and is fairly easy to navigate.
Like most companies mSpy offers a ten-day money back guarantee to everyone who purchases a package. So if you’re not satisfied you can always ask for a refund and move along.
Demo available – live
This is extremely useful for all first time users. I always recommend that first time users utilize the live demo. It teaches you about all the features and how they function in addition to giving you a real feel of how the application works altogether.
mSpy Price packages
mSpy offers two different packages, both of which I have tested.
The Basic package offers standard features including text message monitoring, call log, internet history and GPS tracking. As you might have guessed the premium package is where you will find the advanced features.
I have tested them both.
Basic 1 month $39.9
Basic 3 months $59.99
Premium 1 month $69.99
Premium 3 months $119.99
Premium 6 months $149.99
Premium 12 months $199.99
You can make payments using Paypal, credit card, debit card, or wire transfer – the 10 day money back guarantee applies to each. A longer subscription gives you better value for your money. However, if you will only be using the application temporarily then the shorter period is a great choice. I admire the fact that they offer options for their customers – after all the one size fits all belief doesn’t apply here.
You Can Puchase mSpy here
mSpy offers some quality features and that’s why they’ve managed to stay afloat in the crowded spy software monitoring market. There no jailbreak option makes them more attractive to a lot of customers and the keylogger feature is not common among other companies.
It’s still not as advanced as FlexiSpy but it’s doing pretty well if you ask me. Their credibility, experience and fair pricing are certainly some of their best selling points that put them right next to their competitors.
mSpy might be the best software from your perspective while FlexiSpy may be the best for someone else – it all depends on your individual needs. However, if you’re not interested in live call and ambient recording then you can’t lose with mSpy.
I hope I was able to answer all your questions about mSpy in this review. If you have any further questions, let me know in the comment section.
